EURO-ZONE INFLATION FALLS TO 1 PER CENT
Tema(s): En: Financial Times 26 jun. 1999, p. 4Resumen: Inflation in the euro-zone fell in May to 1.0 per cent a year from 1.1 per cent in April and 1.3 per cent in May last year, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said yesterday. The provisional May figure is only marginally higher than the lowest-ever price rise measured in November, when prices in the euro-zone rose 0.9 per cent. Meanwhile, Eurostat said annual inflation for the 15 European Union members stood at 1.1 per cent in May, down from 1.2 per cent in April. Within the EU, Ireland's rate of 2.3 per cent was highest, followed by Greece with 2.2 per cent and Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal with 2.1 per cent.
