N2  - The crisis-hit tiger economies of South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand appear to be gathering strength. Not only have financial markets stabilised, but there is positive economic news too; output growth this year is forecast to be vastly improved on last year, with Thailand, South Korea and perhaps Malaysia likely to see a return to growth. But does this recovery run deeper than the surface? The main reason for the rosier economic outlook is an expected recovery in domestic demand, driven by loose fiscal and monetary policies. There is some evidence for this already; in Korea, for instance, wholesale and retail sales rose by 7.3 per cent year on year in February
